Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Program

We are a workforce development program for young adults ages 16-24 in Washington County who face barriers to employment. Our mission is to cultivate self-sufficient, confident, and joyful youth who enthusiastically pursue their career and life goals through internships, training, and entrepreneurship. 

The YouthSource Program is funded by Worksystems, Inc. through a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor: Equal Opportunity Employer.

Services Include:

  • Paid work experiences (including Supa Fresh Youth Farm)
  • Work readiness training workshops
  • Individual career coaching
  • Career exploration
  • College planning & transition support
  • Leadership development
  • Financial support with costs relating to your career and education goals (bus passes, gas cards, identifying documents, clothing, hygiene items, school books, training fees, etc.)
  • Field trips and guest speakers (as available)
  • Referrals to other programs and resources
  • A welcoming, supportive, and inclusive community!

Participant Expectations

  • Meet with your career coach at least every 90 days.
  • Establish career and/or educational goals and make active efforts toward achieving your goals.
  • Communicate with your career coach! Respond to messages in a timely manner (don’t leave us on read). Text if you’re running late or need to reschedule a meeting.
  • Keep your career coach up-to-date on your employment and education status–we want to know how you’re doing!
  • Treat staff and other participants with respect.
  • Attend required Work Readiness Trainings.

    Program Eligibility

    • 16-24 years old at time of enrollment
    • Low Income*
    • Have one or more barriers to employment:
      • Suspended, expelled, or dropped out of school
      • Deficient in basic literacy skills
      • English Language Learner
      • Person with a disability (including learning disabilities and persons with a current or past IEP/504 plan)
      • Justice system involvement
      • Homeless or runaway
      • In foster care or aged out of foster care
      • Pregnant or parenting

    *Must meet federal poverty guidelines. Some exceptions apply.

    Must have current work authorization documents. Participants assigned male at birth must also register with Selective Service, if 18+.
